David Allan Coe Vintage Tee
This T-shirt is a true rarity. It dates back to around 2004, from a standing-room-only show at The Machine Shop Concert Lounge in Flint, Michigan—an iconic venue known for booking top rock, metal, and outlaw country acts since 2002. During a break in the show, I had the chance to meet David Allan Coe himself, and he tossed me this T-shirt as a keepsake.
Coe, born September 6, 1939, is an American singer and songwriter famous for his outlaw country style and hits like “You Never Even Called Me by My Name,” “Longhaired Redneck,” and “The Ride.” Beyond his own music, he wrote “Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)” for Tanya Tucker and “Take This Job and Shove It,” recorded by Johnny Paycheck (which inspired the movie of the same name). Coe’s wild image and rebellious attitude have left a lasting mark on the country music world.
. Its unique back print— “If That Ain’t Country, I’ll Kiss Your Ass”—isn’t commonly found in other designs, making it a standout piece.
Please review all photos for details. It looks like those light spots on the back by the arm may have been some sort of musty spots from David’s storage. As it looks the same since I have had the shirt, 20 years ago.
